I did not hear any tonight. The sound of drumming, that is. And the crowd was so sparse I think everyone was shown on the jumbotron. Twice.
It was my first game of the season. I had been overseas for most of the past three months, and as soon as I was back home, I wanted to attend a game right away. But it seemed only a few thousand other fans felt that way, too. And it pained me to see how a team with rich history, nine world series championships, a team deemed by some as America’s favorite underdog team has come down to such a pitiful state.

I went to the game by myself tonight, but I met a husband and wife who sat in front of me. They shared that they have been very vocal about their hatred towards John Fisher and their strong opposition to the A’s relocation. But they still chose to attend the game tonight. “I love the team more,” the husband said.
On the positive note, I met Lee, a guest service employee in section 123, who has been working at the Coliseum for over 12 years. His wife works there as well. He greeted me with a smile and made me feel welcome and even asked me for my name.

The section I sat in is on the left side of the dugout facing the field. This is where all the guests, camera guys, groundskeepers go in and out of. Young kids would stand and wait near and in front of me (I was in row 3, seat 1) for autographs and baseballs they can get. Thoughts that ran to my mind were: Can I also get autographs? Being in S. Korea for almost three months, I was spoiled with the fan service- getting pics and autographs from all the players. Now, that I’m back in the U.S., the sports fan culture just isn’t the same.
A’s lost tonight, losing by a run. They aren’t as bad as their record shows considering they have lost eight of the games by only one run.
Also, it was Nurse’s Night tonight. Actually, I didn’t even know. I only found out after I was asked twice if I was a nurse. lol. Maybe because I’m Filipino, folks assumed I was.
Final score: Colorado Rockies- 4 Oakland A’s – 3
A’s Record: 20-31 My Record: 0-1

Tonight was a sad night. It would be the last A’s game I would attend with my son, Nate, at the Coliseum.
Nate, who is currently serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, is home on leave. I knew that going to the game was a MUST before he goes back to Yuma, Arizona . We have been going to games together since he was a young boy. He is now 20 years old. How I will miss these times.
We sat in the same section I sat in this past Wednesday night. Lee was there again, and he remembered my name! I introduced him to Nate and made small talk. He really is a friendly guy. The Oakland A’s should be thankful to have an employee like him working the games.

Oh. The A’s lost again. They are only 11 games under .500. They can still turn it around. Plenty of games still left. I still believe.
Even though the A’s lost, I’m glad I got to go to one final game with my son at the Coliseum.
Oh! We did get a headband giveaway and purchased a few pins.
Final Score: Houston – 6 Oak – 3
A’s Record: 21-32 My record: 0-2

I’m back. It was just me again. My son went back to his base. I really do not mind going alone and watching games by myself. I still have fun regardless.
I also have decided that I will attend as many games as I can physically AND financially afford. I would have to endure driving an hour and a half in traffic from San Jose each time and paying the $30 parking fee. But it’s the last season I will get to do this. I will have to make sacrifices.
I sat in the same seat. And yes, Lee was there. I had my usual hot dog and coke. Lee suggest I bring my own snacks to save money. That was noted.
And the A’s won! I get my first W in my record column!
Final Score: Seattle Mariners – 2 Oakland A’s – 1
A’s Record: 25-38 My Record: 1-2
